Long time reader, first time poster!
After years of reading the forums and humming and hawing, I figured it was time to actually join and post as decision day looms. A long term Alfa fan but my last Alfa was a bit of a disaster (a 33 16V P4) and nearly bankrupted me, so it's taken 17 years to persuade SWMBO that "they must be better built now"! In the interim, I've had a succession of Japanese performance cars which have been great fun but just missing that little special something. Actually, not entirely true. I owned two RX8s and those really do have something special, as well as a similar reputation to Alfa for reliability. Ironically, they were the least trouble and the best built!
After 18 months of Evo ownership and half the car being replaced under warranty (brakes twice, wheels twice, AWD system, gearbox and counting) as well as my previous Impreza....er......blowing up after 2 years, it seems that the Japanese have kind of lost the plot on reliability, and their USP as well. Not to mention the insane costs of fuelling and taxing the things. So I've decided to downsize......a little. Given that I can't stand German cars, I'm currently looking at the Giulietta QV though I'm slightly holding out to see the Giulia styling before I decide, and a V6 Giulia QV could swing the balance. Though a little ploy to buy the Giulietta now and then hunt down a used 4C for the weekend in a few years has started hatching.
With luck, the next Alfa will be a bit better than that old 33 P4 and Alfa can get in the other half's good books again!
