My names Rob, and I've just purchased my first Alfa!
More or less, I've been a Vauxhall user for most of my driving life, and to be honest, rather amusingly, I've exclusively driven diesels. Here is the list;
95' Corsa B 1.5D
'01 Punto 1.9 JTD
'01 Astravan 1.7 DTi
'55 Astra Design Estate 1.7 CDTi.
I'm currently 20, with my 21st being in 10 days time! As soon as I turn 21 I will be insuring my Alfa as my insurance will drop drastically, to say I'm looking forward to it would be an understatement.
So what have I bought?
2001 Alfa 156 2.0 TS Veloce with 75,000 miles and a comprehensive service history. It was really cheap, at £470, and when I went to go and view it really is in great condition. I would rate it a 9/10, with only a scratch on the front bumper, the glue on the side skirts coming away, and a missing jacking point, the only marks on the car. It's spent most of it's life garaged and it certainly shows.
But, like some Alfa's not all is what it seems, and perhaps the bargain isn't so much of a bargain. Within the last 500 miles the car had a cylinder head skim and rebuild with cambelt and full service, yet there is oil coming out of the rocker cover. So it's not been done properly!
It also has the exhaust blowing at both the backbox, and the "flexy" part. So perhaps a new CF2 full exhaust is in order. The engine also seems tappety on first cold start, which goes away after 2 mins, this may be normal, but I haven't had a 2.0ts before.

Hope the images work - this is the method I use on AOC
Just did preview, it would seem they don't embed into the post like they do on AOC, nevermind
I will be requiring some help via the mechanical issues, so come see me in the help forum lol :P
