Hello to you all
Against all logic and common sense people told me to exercise I bought a nice cheap Alfa 156 yesterday, (2002 with 70k on the clock). Simple decision really. Last car was a Mondeo Ghia X, (I have kids, don't judge me harshly on this one), FSH, well maintained 'very sensible car', 'cheap to run' etc etc. Well, it developed an 'undetectable' electrical fault that was cooking starter motors, alternators, returning 24 to 31 mpg (diesel!!!!!). So I did the decent thing and scrapped it, (yes, one less Mondeo on the roads!!).
Me and my wife decided not get a 'sensible car' too soon, and this little Alfa was round the corner and after 2 inspections and the belief that it's a gamble I paid little money, (less than the estimated next attempted repair on the Mondeo), and handed over some cash. This forum has been great in making me decide to get it. It is not without its faults, but I have already sorted the passenger side headlights thanks to a thread on the issue pointing to the earth cable).
I'm pretty sure I'll be here quite a bit and will have black hands more often than I've had in recent years, so thought a long introduction was in order. But I have to say, I love it already and it reminds me of my 1st car which was a Triumph Dolomite 1850 HL.
But thanks to all you Alfa lovers for sharing your advice. Just like the cars, this is head and shoulders above the Ford forums in terms of decent knowledge.
Cheers guys and gals, and hello once more
