Defender to 159
Hi all, I'm Ash from Skipton in N. Yorks. I've been searching through the forum for a couple of months now and thought it was time to say hello.
I bought my first Alfa at the end of last year, a nice little 159 2.4 JTDm, and I love it already. A bit of a culture shock after parting with my beloved Defender 90 but getting another car with a bit of character has eased the pain. I like the fact that just like the Defender there's a bit of a starting procedure, it seems to add a sense of occasion to each drive. Done a few jobs already like clearing away the soot, fitting an xcarlink with bluetooth and chucking in some led sidelamps but other than that this one's going to stay standard. Honest.
Had a few different cars in the past but this is the only one the missus approves of; the Megane was too hard-riding, the Defender had too many keys and she never could get the Capri to start first time. She can't even drive the 159 properly to be honest - can't get the hang of the clutch (either dumps it or rides it) or the 6-speed 'box (engine seems to be either at 600rpm or 4000rpm) but somehow all of that is my fault. I swear I still have bits of red leather under my fingernails.
Anyway everyone loves pics so here are some past cars along with the 159. Oh and another of what you could call my first Alfa, a 'racing' 156...
