New Guy

...well, not really.

As I'm known as Plastic Pig in most other forums that I use, I thought I'd bring my AO identity into line.

So, new name, but still the same old cr4p.

For what reasons are you known as Plastic Pig?

Re: New Guy

Strictly speaking, I am the owner of the Plastic Pig:
http://www.kappanet.co.uk/pig

My Bertie has been nick-named the Plastic Pig since it was renovated with fibreglass bodywork about 10 years ago.

Re: New Guy

OK. Here are my steeds:

For posing I use the Plastic Pig. She's a 1973 2000GTV renovated using fibreglass panels. The mechanicals include a 156 BHP fast road engine (GTA-style trumpets, gas-flowed head, tubular manifolds, sports exhaust, lightened flywheel), lowered suspension, Koni shocks and braided brake hoses. She's fettled by Ian Ellis (www.ianellisalfas.co.uk). Battle honours include track days at Goodwood and three trips to Le Mans

For the track (and quiet roads ), I have a 1982 GTV6 that was built by Alex Jupe (www.alexjupemotorsport.co.uk). She has too many mods to list, but they include a 3.5 litre/270 BHP engine, Brembo brakes and an R S Racing suspension kit. She's a very recent addition to the stable, but has already done a track day at Castle Combe and should be taking me round the Nurburgring in September.

For shopping I have a 1990, 3 litre 75 fitted with a Harvey Bailey suspension kit, Bilstein shocks and braided brake hoses. Engine is standard except for tubular manifolds and a CSC back box. She's done a track day at Goodwood and a few weekend trips to France, Belgium and Germany.

For cruising , I bring out a 1998 GTV 3.0 V6 24V six speed. This baby is completely standard (so far!). She's done Goodwood as well and effortlessly lapped up the miles during tours of duty in France, Wales and Scotland. Rusper Alfa (www.rusperalfaromeo.com) look after her.

Bill

Hello Plastic Bill
Welcome to AO!

Have you ever had a car which isn't red and do you have a car for going to the tip in?

Strangely enough, I've never had an Alfa (and I've had nine) that wasn't red. Makes filling in the order form easier.

The Pig and the 75 share the runs to the tip . The Pig gets some looks when twice its weight in hedge clippings is unloaded!

And I for you. The Pig was over your way last night at a meeting of the AROC Goodwood section. They gather at a pub in Funtington, between Chichester and Havant. You should come along.
I also visit Alex Jupe regularly. He lives in Gosport and has a workshop at Newtown, near Wickham.

I have heard of him - he specialises in race-prepping Alfas doesn't he? (or was it that he specialises in 75's?)

Both. He's a "transaxle" specialist (i.e. Giulietta/Alfetta/GTV6/75) and looks after two Alfetta racers and a Sprint racer.

If you see red or black 75s or a silver GTV6 driving through Gosprt/Lee/Fareham, there's a good chance it'll either be him or his wife.

Re: New Guy

you're a lucky guy to have that many alfa's and the space to keep them, I never wanted to part with my 155 but due to the fact the only parking space i have is my garage i had no choice! They are a great looking bunch of cars mind you!

Ah is it possible to actually change your name on the forum then? it annoys me that I chose 33_75_146 as I was looking at a 146ti initially, but ended up not getting it.

I know I'm lucky . I've never taken that for granted.
I rent three garages so that all my babies are covered. Sounds mad , but it works for me.
