hi all

Your Forum name stan laurel

Real name Steve

Age 41

Occupation Emergency Ambulance Dispatcher (Land and Helimed Resources – yes I get to play with Choppers!)

Lives Lancashire

Marital Status
Married, 2 kids

which cars do you drive and why? Alfa 159 1.9 Jtdm Lusso SW, Alfa 156 1.8ts Veloce SW. Why? Because they are alfa’s

Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo? Now? Absolutely!

What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?
You know when you’re a kid and you start subtly hinting to your mum and dad what you want for Christmas, 6 months in advance? Well that was me, aged 36, to my wife, after spotting a GTV in a salesroom around the corner from where we lived. Unfortunately, I wasn’t subtle enough, and when I eventually gathered up enough “Cajones” to say “I’M HAVING IT, DAMN YOUR OPINION WOMAN” (obviously, I was to scared to actually phrase it as such), the beauty had been sold!

As fate would have it, I was made redundant a couple of months later, so the GTV dream went up in a puff of smoke, but from then on I was hooked on the looks of the Alfa brand.
Talking of “Puffs of smoke”, 12 months later, after regaining stable employment, I bought a 156 1.8TS SW, which I immediately fell in love with. Within a matter of days I had been smitten with driving again, going so far as taking my Philistine wife to London (after which, even she had to concede it was an amazing car in both looks and performance).

Unfortunately, exactly 2 months and 28 days after purchasing my first bella, the engine decided to implode.

Luckily, this was within the 3 month Warranty, and I got a recon engine fitted for FREE!!!! WOOHOO!!

Since then, with lots of TLC and advice from other Alfa owners (am I allowed to give credit to alfa156.net?) the car has been amazing – the handling, the throttle response, and again, the styling……O..M..G..

And now?

I’ve just upgraded to a 159 Jtdm SW Lusso – it has to be the sexiest car I will possibly ever own….people at work have said they are envious, and I believe them! (there must be 60+ cars on the works car park )

And instead of driving her ****ty Rover 25, my wife now loves driving the 156…..i always knew she was a closet fan!

Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?

I am a member of alfa156.net, but am not a member of any club where meets are involved…unfortunately, work/family time would mean I probably wouldn’t be able to commit to attending actual events.

What do you like most about Alfas?

I’m ugly, but my car never will be!

What do you like least about Alfas?
with the models I own, fuel efficiency, and the tax duty

What would be your dream cars?
Alfa 8C
3.2 GTV
Ariel Atom (any build)
Ford XR3 (4 speed, twin webber), my first car!

What car would you least like to drive?
Any Simca -- i remember my dad buying one almost new, and it broke down so many times i refused to get in, as a 6 year old.

What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?
The A-Roads through Wales, with either Mumford and sons, Biffy Clyro, System of a Down, etc…with or without my wife, but definitely not the kids,,,they get car sick on twisty roads, hehe!

What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Music, Computers, History

Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)

nearly got signed to a major record label in the 90’s, but crap management let us down – 2 band members went on to be very successful….:/

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
I can gurn without having to gurn!

What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
I’m new here, but it looks like it could be an education!

If you had 50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?

i'd buy shares in Greggs
