147 JTD EGR pipe
I own a 2005 147 diesel JTD. A few days ago I noticed a sudden blowing noise from the front of the engine. A local garage informed me that the EGR pipe had corroded and a replacement would cost in the region of £350. The guy was decent and advised me to get a second hand part which he would fit for me. I have spent a weekend on-line and found plenty of EGR valves for sale but no pipes. The mechanic also told me that it was a tricky job to repair. I can clearly see where the pipe has corroded, it is running from the right front of the engine to the rear and has corroded there. I am certainly no expert, but it doesn't seem realistic to me that (A) A short corrugated pipe is going to cost 350 quid and (B) It is a really tricky job.
Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.
