must sell, want to sell, hate to sell.
I may not have posted much in this forum previously, although have been finding info and advices since 2007 when I bought my 2005 147 jtd 16v. It's been what seems like a typical Alfa owning experience: lots of love, lots of frustrations. 5 years of ownership most of which using my Alfa as a 2nd car since had a company car as 1st. No more company car now and the Alfa just isn't spacious enough so need a bigger car. If I could afford I'd keep her and get another car. But no can do.
Part of me is eagerly looking forward to the moment some excited buyer will drive away in my JTD - probably someone new to the amazing adventures of an Alfa ownership.. Part of me wants to keep the car and just improve and enjoy her.
Last 12 months have been very frustrating. First I had to replace inner tie rod ends. Did that but they went bust in mere 4 months. Turned out steering rack was f***ed. Got a new one. Not cheap. 2 days after rack was changed steering pump failed leaving my driveway properly oiled. Not cheap as the she went to a garage again and what an episode it was. The new pump I had ordered leaked too. The garage wasn't very keen on my car at this point so I had to find info for them about what could be the problem. They said they cannot see if it's the pump or pipes that leak so they told me to get new pipes just in case. I did. Not cheap. Waited 3 weeks as they did nothing. Finally they rolled up their sleeves and found the new pump was faulty. So we got another one. And it worked. And it has worked since. But some bushes have been really worn for awhile and the car is really, really bad to drive. So I bought a set of powerflex bushes and am gonna have them installed. Hoping it would bring back the Alfa I had for 4 years: trouble free, enjoyable, fun to drive car that I love. Last year made me hate that car so much I just don't want to see her anymore. My wife complains about the handling all the time too. She wants a RAV4.. sigh.. But if the Powerflex bushes fix the handling, it may become very, very hard for me to sell the car. In my dirty little mind I want to lower her a bit, put in some Konis, improve the sound insulation and chip tune her. Then win a jackpot and get a RAV4 for my wife. Thanks for listening. That helped.
