Hi, own my second alfa, a 2002 spider 2.0 TS. First was a 164, 15 years ago when I lived in the UK. Emigrated to Oz in 1998, and finally old enough ( and can afford !) a 'toy', so finally got my spider for the Queensland winters. Believe me, the roof down in a Queensland summer is a recipe for first degree burns, but driving it at night in summer is a delight.
Unfortunately, the road conditions here are not the best for the car, bad road surfaces and large potholes mean watching the road surface for the next potentially damaging hole takes the shine off it somewhat, and the car can feel sometimes like it will shake itself to pieces. As an example, recently bought a new daily drive car, a VW Passat CC, had it less than 3 weeks, driven less than 150km, and hit a large pothole, and destroyed the tyre, ( $480 replacement cost!) luckily a. wheel was undamaged and b. I wasn't driving the spider.
Car draws a fair amount of attention, Alfa badge here seen as a premium brand ( as anything european), though can be very intimidating looking up at the many 4wd with their bull bars at my head height.
Hope to join alfa owners club soon, when I will get more time to drive, and hope to get answers to a couple of questions regarding my car along with this site.
