An "alfista" from Portugal
Hi, everyone here
My name is Carlos Gilbert, 1948 "vintage year", and I'm from Porto, in the northern part of Portugal. I'm a car enthusiast (among other things) and we (my wife and I) have already another classic vehicle, a Volvo PV544 B18 with which we startred our passion for cars of past decades. Why do I say "another classic car"? Because a month or so ago we bought here in Portugal a very nice looking Alfa-Romeo GT 1600 Junior, registred for the first time Jan' 1981. Yes, it's true, first register 1981! This is a long story to explain, I'll do that later on in a proper thread for this car.
I have some experience in the classic car scene (having rebuilt in past years three Land-Rover Series vehicles) and some good connections here with guys specialized in the restoring and the maintenance of classic cars. It is for me a joy to witness the steps our GT 1600 is undergoing to be a pristine example of the italian craftmanship of the 60s. A new project is already in view, but this I will make public only when (and if) it is really 100% sure.
I look forward to get interesting conversations with some of you here. Be it said also that for some time in the past I've been co-administrator for our "Motor Classic" forum here in Portugal.
