First ***** - Big Decision
Yesterday I swapped my old 1.4 Golf for an Alfa 156 V6 2.5.
It came up that a friend of a friend owned it and wanted something cheaper to run and I had always heard you have to own an Alfa before you die so I thought what the heck! I have a company vehicle so it isn't my main transport.
So far I love it.. Even though there was no fluid in the transmission when I collected it and the clutch was non-functional. I bled the clutch and it feels fine, just a bit worried it may need a new cylinder.
It goes superbly and is great fun. I love the leather and noise. It drives well and all seems well now.
There are some small jobs I know of - windscreen washers not working, bulbs, Airbag light and Gaiters for the CV joints. Someone reversed into a post too so the is a dent in the boot and the bumper. Oh and the radio won't take the code, I think I have to leave it on for an hour.
Nothing too alarming, even with possible Clutch cylinder.
So with 134k on the clock, no service history, a cambelt probably needed, and the MOT in two weeks do I just patch it through the MOT and hope the Cambelt holds while I have some fun for the summer or do I get the Cambelt done and a good service and look to keep it a few years??
I'm hoping to enjoy finding out..
