Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

Well guy's I hope you ready for this, I think I have finally managed to get pics of my 156 onto this site for all to see , all thanks to Throttleman (Your a Gentleman!), these pics were taken down in Berwick upon Tweed at the weekend, I am the guy in the White T-Shirt, and the specimen in the blue T-shirt is my best Bud James (the guy who showed me the joy of Alfas!!) thought I would compliment the car, by having some lovely backgrounds to go with it. let me know what you think guy's.

I'm afraid the quality is pretty poor now as I had to reduce the file size quite substantially, but if your at the Italian car day, my 156 will be there in the flesh (and me of course look out for me )

Very nice motor - I do think the 156 looks best in the darker colours.

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

Thanks for the compliments guy's about the car, and she drives as good as she looks.

I think James's V6 wont be ready in time for the Italian car day, which is a shame, but will hopefully have it back to glory before too long.. (Hope you're listening James!!) all I'll say is "Car cover/Polish"

Do you have any photos of your 146 P17SUT? sounds like a real nice car

Leven

Lots of pics of my car have been posted on various threads....
I'm quite proud of it, you could say

The pics in my Forum Garage show what its like at the moment, with alfa badged number plates and clear side repeaters.

By the way they are all camera phone pics so poor quality

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

oh he'll be there Frazer I think nothing short of armageddon will stop him (Will it James) added to the fact he will be coming up with me and p17sud

Right Guy's got a question for you's I intend to get the Timing Belt changed on my car soon, but the only Alfa garages are miles away (Edinburgh / Perth) can anyone recommend a garage who has experience working on Alfa's? wouldn't want to trust it to some little grease monkey straight out of work experience. I could do it myself, but lacking a garage and time at the moment. appreciate any help.

BTW p17sud, will be coming through to Leven to see your 146, that looks one sweet car.

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

I'm sure there's someone in Dunfermline coz one of the AO guys in your neck of the woods has mentioned him before. Might be worth asking on the tech forum.

Cheers Korky, your welcome to come along I've plenty of photos to look at.

But I'm affraid the 146 is in my parents Garage in Freuchie, I think it might need a new battery as i've not had it running for a while and its not seeming to take a charge. So if I can get it running and polished for end of May, and can find someone who wants to go to Craigton to drive it for me on the road of course, I'll be able to drive in the Park grounds then i would take it.

Not sure of any specialists in our area, I just use a family business I know well.

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

well, we will have to see what we can do about that, I am sure James76 would run the car up to Craigton for you. (I trust him driving my car) that way we kill two birds with one stone.. you get to drive the car, and other Ao's can admire it at the Italian car day!!! your call buddy..

Maybe organise something for next weekend? Levens only 20 mins from here.

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

Fraser, you're a star , that is literally 5 minutes from where I work, will pop up tonight and have a wee chat with the guy. reading your comments I see you have the same opinion of "Fitters" as I do, any monkey can change a wheel or parts, but being able to diagnose and repair is a different kettle of fish. cheers for that.

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

That place rings a bell, think the guy I bought the car from in 2003 (who is also from Leven and has owned a few Alfas but doesnt visit this site or own one at the moment) has mentioned it. When we bump into each other and chat bout Alfas for a while I'm sure he has mentioned that as a good place to go!

Thats a good idea bout James takin it Korky, i'll have to see what I can do about the battery etc...

I have a small charger which dont seem to give it enough power to start it even when left for a good few hours charging.
I'll give it another try at the weekend and let you know!
We can get something organised next weekend though sure, and get 146 out if poss sometime before 29th May!

Cheers, p.

Re: Alfa Owner from Scotland

Sounds like the battery is probably goosed on your 146 mate, if it is refusing to accept a charge there may be 1 or more cells knackered. Even 1 would cause enough internal resistance to stop any power flowing. However Korky's battery tester will reveal all.

Re driving it up there for ya, more than happy to (as it looks like the timescale for mine is going to be months before i hear the happy growl i am used to hearing from it!) i need to keep my habit fed!!
