I have one and I can't recommend it enough, make sure you go for a lusso spec model, rather than a turismo, most seem to be lusso.
Regarding reliability, it mainly comes down to the owner, oil levels need to be checked weekly until you get a feel for how much the car uses, it will use oil and requires topping up between changes.
Engine is fairly strong, and needs a bit of revving to get the most out of it, before you buy get evidence of any belt changes, this needs to have been done at 36k or every 3 years. If maintenance appears to have been neglected, walk away.
You'll also notice a huge increase in fuel consumption from a 1.2 Clio, I average about 28-30mpg and get about 350-370 miles out of a tank.
Yeah I was looking at the Lusso looks nice, not sure if I want leather or not
I thought that would be the case, checking/topping up the oil isn't exactly challenging so I don't see why owners would neglect something so simple.. Hmm..
Haha, I have to the rev the cr*p out of my car to get it to do anything "quick".. If you can call it that, I don't really associate quick and 60bhp though! Yeah Cambelts are a must for me, I'd rather not have to get the engine rebuilt!
Well, the way I drive my Clio I get about 250 miles to a tank, no I don't drive like a pr*ck! I just put my foot down a lot! But only on straights, far to many pictures of upside down Clios!
I'm sure I'll still notice a difference though, hopefully it won't break the bank too much! Well either way it will teach me to drive better and more sensibly!
