Hello from Essex

Hello everyone. The reason I joined this forum is that I have been looking for a second car for quite some time. I looked at 4x4s, S-class Mercedes, estates, diesels, you name it, I've thought about buying one.

I finally decided that what I really need is a 2-litre Alfa Romeo GTV. This model appears to be perfect for running around Southend, where I live, and getting me up to Scotland every month or so, where I watch my football and where my friends and family live. To be honest, I don't do much local driving and 99% of my mileage is on motorways and Scottish A-roads.

It appears that these cars are not without issues, so I'll be searching the forum for information and occasionally popping up with questions. The plan is to get hold of one that doesn't have any issues and to find a local independent specialist. If anyone has any initial advice for me, it will be gratefully received.

Welcome. These cars are getting on a bit, there are good and bad. Me I got lucky (I think) with my Spider, almost jumped in with my eyes closed
It is worth opening your eyes though afterwards as they are IMHO things of beauty

Hi and welcome, you'll love the GTV I am sure but just do your homework and expect certain things won't be as good as your BMW and your onto a win

You might see me around in Southend as I live in Rayleigh and got a red 147GTA which is not usually standing still for that long

Edit - Also if you come across Auto Medics based in Southend then avoid them like the plague, they botched some work I had done on my old 145QV

Hello and welcome to AO.......
Great choice, just make sure there are receipts for service and not just stamps in the book.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've been scouring this site and absorbing as much information as I can. Now I need to start seriously looking.
