For a few years I've been this shy fellow
only resorting to browsing through the forums now and then. I found the forum when I for a brief period owned an Alfa 156 2.0TS and had to turn off the airbag light.
Bills caught up with me and my GF (now ex) and I had to part with the silver beauty and got a good sum + a Ford Escort MK5 (which gave up after just three weeks).
After this great disappointment I was offered to buy my dad's 145 1.6L:

My dad bought it from the garage we've used for as long as I can remember when the family drove an AlfaSud 1.5TI and an AlfaSud Sprint QV. Both of these passed 300.000km's with no more than normal servicing, but after close to 20 years my dad eventually lost the battle against rust.
The boxer is by no means a sensible choice, but every time I crank that engine I'm back on one of our numerous car trips through Germany to France when going to Normandy or Cagne-sûr-Mère. Ahhh, the memories!
As far as the car goes...
Clear coat is peeling off on the right side, exhaust is now blowing (waiting for replacement), some stupid g*t's marked the entire left side thoroughly with a trailer, driver's seat needs replacing and the roof lining is hanging low!
Before my dad bought the car it had the engine rebuilt with new 1.7 pistons from a 33 Boxer, new shells, clutch, generator etc. and is therefore a 1.7L and has done roughly 60.000km's since with a single cam belt change and six 10.000km service intervals.
Being the young lad of 30 that I am, I've of course uprated the stereo a bit to a Pioneer DEH-P6700MP, sound deadened the doors and fit a set of Rainbow Dreamline speakers up front AND I have an Audison SRx3 + Hertz ML2500 free air sub waiting for a warm Spring day. Oh, and I've fitted a K&N panel filter, brembo discs and EBC pads.
Cheers and hope you all have a great year,
