Just bought a GTV T-Spark and want some advice

I wanted to know if there is any noticeable sign that the cam-belt needs to be replaced as my new car has done 80K so should have had it changed at least once? I have had a cam-belt snap on me twice in previous cars and really dont want my beloved Alfa to end with the same fate. It starts first time, drives well although sounds a bit like a diesel when idle.

If it hasn't been done before then get it done now!

The diesel noise is the variator, this can be changed when you change the cambelt.. Make sure you request this to be done.

Remember to check your oil levels very very regularly.

Also to keep you costs to a minimum, have a look at our traders directory above and see who is local to your postcode for servicing..

Welcome to AO!

Thanks Joe. I'm waiting on my log book to see if I can contact the previous owner and ask them whether they changed it or not. Yes, I did think it was the variator so thanks for confirming that.

Hello and welcome to AO......unless you can get a receipt for a cambelt change in the last 3 years or 36k miles it would be advisable to get it done asap........

Hi, I just want to back up what everyone else has said, get it done. Better to be safe than sorry if you have had it happened twice before I would be down the garage today.
