Newbie here, after my 1st Alfa, help ?
1st off my name is jason and I have been driving lovely little nippy Honda Crx's for about 4-5 years but feel its time for a change and a few of the Alfa's have caught my eye.
I have joined the forum in the hope that you guys and girls might be able to help me find the car I'm after.
OK where to start,
there are 3 alfa's that currently have my attention - 147, GTV and spider.
I started looking at the 147's as I think they are smart looking cars within my budget of £1200-£1700, it was then I noticed that the Spiders and GTV were also in my price range.
I spoke to an owner of a GTV and he told me if he drove economically he could get 400 from a tank and it would cost about £80 to fill up, that seems a lot to me, it's about the same as my crx vtec 40-45 to fill up and get just over 200 miles but my 16v crx would deliver 320 miles and I'd like to get back to that sort of economy as I drive a fair bit for work and my family live 150 miles away.
please correct me if I am wrong here but I am assuming that the Spider is a convertible GTV, they both look cool as and I could see me driving one but the fuel thing bugs me a bit.
Was this guy right on the £80 per tank and getting 400 miles if driven sensibly ?
What about the spider is it the same to fill up and the same miles assuming they're both 2ltr ?
OK so next up is the more sensible option
( having just turned 40 I'm kind of hoping i'll have a mid life crisis and go for the GTV or spider but....)
I do quite like the 147 and they come in 1.6 ltr.
I have seen these with sensible miles,full service history, loads of spec for under £1500 which is kind of where I want to be as I am expecting only to get £1200 for my CRX.
can anybody tell me what the mileage is with these beauties and what the pro's and con's are between a 3 or 5 door, insurance seems to leap up for 3 doors !
Finally I'd like to thank you all in advance for helping this newbie out with this on and if anybody knows of and BLACK GTV, Spiders or 147's going near the Bristol area
(but I also have to make a trip to the lake district soon ish, and sometimes go to Kent or Reading so not limited to Bristol )
let me know.
