Alfa Spider 2007

Alfa Romeo 2.2 JTS Hood problem

Just purchased 2 weeks ago a 2007 Alfa Romeo Spider which belonged to the actress Tamsin Outhwaite. The car has covered only 16,000 miles. This week the roof suddenly would not open or close.
For other owners I manually opened the roof by using the directions in the owners handbook.
One of the hydraulic valves/motors was very hot. Tried a few times to open or close the roof without success. The last resort before taking the car in to a main dealer was a thought that the lever inside the storage box behind the driver seat which releases the pressure in the hydraulic system was not returning to the closed position. You can get your hand in through the boot and pull the lever on the roof system to open the valve.

Couldn't believe it the roof started working perfectectly, might help other owners.
Question I can not see where the outer cable secures to in the roof well, any ideas?
What oil goes into the hydraulic reservoir and to what level. Where do you top up the reservoir.
