Hello from Portsmouth

Hi,

I'm Rob, live near Portsmouth. Currently driving a Ford Fiesta, but its on its last legs, and I'm looking currently at a 156.

Standard thoughts going through my mind - new or used, loan, HP or PCP.

Haven't actually got around to test driving anything, still very much at the research stage.

Pretty much decided on the 1.9 JTD Lusso.

Bound to be asking loads of stupid questions in the very near future!

Thanks.

Re: Hello from Portsmouth

Hi mate,

Welcome to Alfaowner, and hopefully welcome to being an alfa-owner...

If you're after buying a 156 JTD, I'd look at one either from a supermarket or get a nearly new one. The initial depreciation is quite significant, and this also makes the cars not the most economical on a PCP. The PCP scheme also itself is not as ecomomical above 10K miles p.a. anyway IMHO and if you are unsure of your mileage it can be quite an expensive choice if you are over or under by any significant amount.

You should be able to get a pre-registered/ex demo 1.9 16V JTD for a good price, people are starting to think about the replacement car next year, so dealers are keen to sell on.

I'd make sure you didn't get the old 8v as the new multijet is stonking.

I love the veloce spec level, with the momo leather.

If you don't mind a bit of a trek to look at cars outside of the dealer network try Monzasport (www.monzasport.co.uk) they're in west sussex (about 50 miles).

SImon.

Ciao Rob.

Hants & Sussex are not short of Alfa fans. Look out for us on the roads. There's an AROC section that meets in Funtington between Havant & Chichester (see www.arocgoodwood.co.uk). We'll be glad to meet you and answer your questions.

I've seen motorpoint have some 1.9 JTD Lussos with delivery mileage for 13k.

Sounds very reasonable.

West Sussex is closer than 50 miles, I'm pretty close to Goodwood.
