Just thought I'd say hello to all you Alfa fans here as I'm new on this site and shortly coming back to Alfa ownership after about 15 years of owning other makes. My last Alfa was a 1981 1.5 Sprint Veloce and to this day I can still hear the sound of the little flat 4 Boxer crackling on acceleration and popping on over-run,
I'm smiling now as I think back to those days, it was a lovely little car to own.
I hav'nt strayed too far from Alfa as I've owned a few Lancia's and a Fiat in between (as well as one or two German interloper's
) but I feel now I want to bring the fun factor back to my driving.
I'm looking at a 156 2.0/2.5 V6 TS Selespeed as my choice but the wife would prefer me to go for the smaller bodied 145 2.0 TS Cloverleaf as she does'nt like big cars (she classes the 156 as a big car
), are there any big issues with either of these cars bearing in mind I hav'nt driven either yet as I've only just sold the Fiat a few days back, I've been told to stay clear of an early 145 as the handling was a bit suspect so a later car is my choice but the 156 is a mystery to me, I know they are getting on a bit now for a current model but for the price you pay compared to a 3 series you can't have everything and they are great value for money, is there anything I should consider apart from the obvious stuff like SH and Cambelt changes that I should look out for in both models. ?
Thanks for your help and advice in anticipation.
