Just a quick update on my purchase.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have learnt not to judge a book by its cover.
I took the car down to Proalfa in Watford to change over the disks and fit new pads, and also bolt up the rear of the exhaust properly so it would not rattle any more.
I left the car at the garage for the guy's to do in their own time. I got a phone call from Graham, to say "not good news I'm afraid", the o/s/f caliper bolts are both rounded off and one is not even tightened in, it was sitting about 10mm proud. They also found that the driveshaft bearing was gone. If they knew about these problems they would not have even chanced taking it out for a test drive. If I had known this I would not have had the wife and two year old daughter in the car the previous weekend
You can imagine, I was furious with the brakes situation. The drive shaft bearing I can understand, but the brakes is just mindless behavior.
Whilst at Proalfa, I had the brakes all sorted out, the exhaust tightened up properly, the induction kit was also badly fitted but the guy's at Proalfa put this right and also made me a "cup mod" which has made a nice difference to the car and also the exhaust note is a lot better along with the acceleration, the bearing was also done, fresh gearbox oil, new n/s door solenoid so the door would actually lock when armed, there are a few more items which I can not think of at the moment.
Any way, the car is now as good as it looked when I bought it. I took it for an MOT yesterday which it passed with flying colours. They were surprised how it passed all the emissions tests in the green even with a de-cat fitted.
Very happy with the car now, thanks to the guy's at Proalfa.
