Help required for new boy

Following a period of negotiation I have got a mandate to buy a 156 JTD - only stipulation is the requirement for 3 proper seat belts in the back and not mega miles (I'm doing 15000 plus a year so I'll only add to them.
So any help gratefully recieved (plus any leads)

So a bit about me ?

I'm Middle aged, married, none smoking, father of 2. Manufacturing Engineer employed as a Ltd Company Freelancer, I'm working in Derby until Christmas, so I only get home at weekends. Home is Formby, North Liverpool.

Previous cars have included only one italian car, a fiat 126, and quite frankly only a 1981 Polo was worse.
I have had too many vauxhalls in the past including 3 mk3 astras, and 4 mk2 cavaliers. Currently I drive a mk3 cavalier, which we will keep as my father in law got it new some 19 years ago, and it's only reason for retirement is fuel efficiency. and that it looks bad.

My kids think I should buy a focus, but I've made my mind up. Just got to find a good one.

Oh I had an interesting email conversation today with a 'back street' dealer who told me he wouldn't sell me his 156, because it was clear that I would be too painful to deal with.

All I asked was 101 questions including why does Parkers say it's worth 1000 less than the 4300 you want?
