Hi to all I have a problem with my Alfa
Hi there I have a Alfa 156 fastback Veluce it was starting to get a little rattle so it was due for a cam belt change anyway so I had a complete head job and new cam belt hydraulic lifters the whole works. When it was all put back together it started first time but runs flat and lumpy and lurches down the road like it wants to go but is being held back then it would not start at all....after looking on the forums here I tried everything, but it would fire on easy start but would not run on its own I checked the fuel pump no live coming to it but if I gave it a feed it would pump but no start....checked all the fuses OK all connections Earths etc OK battery OK warning lights None no error messages from control panel key code light goes out OK I have been fiddling around for 4 days now it would crank but wouldn’t start UNTIL this morning I fiddled again unplugging plugging cleaning re-cleaning THEN suddenly she started OMG but again runs lumpy if you stick you foot down hard the engine management light comes on and she spits & coughs if you push the throttle down gently she will rev & NO engine management light so out of curiosity I disconnected the pipe shown in this picture at which Air is sucked into it runs much better and ticks over nicely with this pipe disconnected but when you put it back on it runs like crap again....the engine management light stays on now but you can start it first time but it don’t like going up the road sorry for going on but I need this problem nailed but I not got loads of money to spend on her I just bought a MAF for it that did no good either. Quick update 26-4-2011 she now won’t start again I feel like scrapping her and sticking with my Peugeot estate. It’s something so stupid it must be please help.
Thank you so much for reading
