Hi there, for just over a week now I've been the proud owner of a 54 plate GT with the 2.0 JTS engine. The colour is a metallic black (do they call it Carbonite or something like that). It's the prettiest car that you don't have to be a millionaire to own made by any manufacturer in the last 10 years.
This is my first Alfa Romeo and the buying decision was more from the heart than the head, but the car is surprisingly practical for such a sexy coupe (big hatchback boot and usable rear seats).
My previous two cars were 5 series BMWs (an e34 and an e39 - if that means anything to anybody on here) and the legendary build quality and reliability left a little to be desired, so getting one of these famously idiosyncratic and flakey thoroughbreds is going to be less of a culture shock than it might have been. (Is it true that they only make them so pretty because they know you're going to spend most of the time you own it outside looking at it - waiting for the tow truck?)
Just joking, they are now becoming recognised as well made and reliable vehicles as well, so maybe the best of both worlds. That's my hope, anyway.
