Just picked up my 156 Kombi (estate)

Hello esteemed Gentlemen,
I am an American living in Cologne, Germany. My German is strong enough to read the Deutsch forum, but, well, I speak, read, and hear German much better than I write it, so I think I'll be more comfortable and useful here. I can perhaps even spy for you guys? I've never been in an Alfa Romeo until yesterday, except for a short test drive last month.

Anyway, today I picked up a 2001 156 1.8 twinspark wagon (estate). 130,000km, but in pristeen condition. It seems like the low end model - cloth seats and stuff, but I only paid €2200. It needs a timing belt change in the next 10,000km, and it came with only 185/65 snowtires on the original 15" alu rims. Still, I had a 100km drive home on the autobahn and fell in love. Even with these tyres, I was totally stable at 200km/h (although it was seriously loud), and doing tight off ramps at 60mph was just mild amusement. I figure I will need to invest another €1k -1.2k between the belt and wheels/tyres, but I am still as giddy as a schoolboy. I never thought I'd be in a position to own a real sportscar, but now I do. I rule!

Anyway, I will be sure to be posting tech questions here, and as I learn more about Alfas, I bet I'll be able to provide some help from time to time as well.

Looking forward!

Nice going!
Invest in a set of nice original 17" alloys with quality tyres and you have a car that's hard to beat!

Welcome aboard and stop by for a beer - it's only 45 minutes away!
