Been trawling this site for a while picking up tips & info for my 147 2.0 Lusso i acquired in 2004 & it's been very helpful. thought i'd share my story When my Cam Belt snapped at 62,000 ish in 2007 i was Gutted i didn't know there had been a Change to the recommended & boy was it costly, anyway i had it repaired new valves, head done etc etc all the usual & it was ok for a while then the cam started a little rattle but it was driving fine & not losing oil so i nursed it & nursed it & she was fine until that is my son borrowed it just for a day & the dreaded phone call Dad the Cranks gone.......Because i didn't know any better at the time the Cam belt snapped i thought i chose the cheaper option just to do the rebuild!! Boy was i wrong. the Moral to this story is Change the Cam belts at the recommended time.! She is now sat on My Drive looking great but refuses to move
she has only done 68.000 So because i love the Car i Started looking for a reputable place to have a NEW engine & stumbled across an advert for a 147 same speck as mine at the other end of the country to me so thought its worth a call.. Boy did i get Lucky the guy was moving to Jersey the very same day & was desperate to off load the car so he made me an offer i just could not refuse. 4hrs on the Train to see the car & it was in mint condition Rosso red with Momo interior & all the bits Pirelli tyres 80.000 on clock 11mts Mot & 4Mths Tax all for £1400 the drive home was sheer bliss the car drove like a dream & still does & the best bit is i still have my other 147 for spares or repair.. do i qualify as an Alfa Nut???
