Whilst I'm new to the club I'm certainly not new to the Alfa experience! 'Swiss' or 'Swiss Tony' to my friends (long story but I think it's something to do with the moustache and bouffant!!) Almost three years ago I had owned a succession of Audis, solid,reliable......and then I fell in love with the Alfa GT, I sold the A4 2.5 quattro sport I was driving and brought a 1.9 Jtdm privately. I still have pictures of the car that I will post at some stage, and then began some of the "electrical faults" that I had read about and believed only applied to older vehicles. The bottom line was that the vehicle would intermittently display 'engine management system failiure' with an accompanying amber warning icon!It spent a lot of time at Alfa Romeo in Willenhall (near Wolverhampton.)I was eventually informed that I had a "rogue" GT that was unrepairable.I part-chopped the car for a Honda Accord tourer (we have two big dogs) that I still drive to-date, and, touch wood, has never let me down! I vowed that however beautiful the car might look, I would never touch another Alfa.....that was until two days ago!! I've been contemplating a classic convertible for a while, MG,Triumph,TVR and then someone mentioned a spider! I'm now the owner of a mint Alfa Spider 2-0 ltr twinspark on a 99 'T' plate with a genuine 43k miles, totally original and the car is an absolute peach!! I'm in the process of tweeking it, clear side repeaters nothing too lary and will post some pictures when the sun shines....The moral to the story is never say never and does anyone have a contact number for a 'shrink', someone please tell me that this is normal behaviour??
All reasonable advice gladly accepted, regards, Swiss spider.....
