159 buyer's guide

Thinking about replacing my daily commuter (Brava, after 11 years of reliable ownership) with a petrol 159 as something a bit different for 16 - 20k miles / yr.
I haven't owned an Alfa since a Sud and I'm very wary, plus Alfa's are consistently near the bottom of current reliability guides.

Seen lots of posts about diesel problems, alarms, windows etc. but is there a list of what's likely to go wrong and cost to fix?

Welcome to AO.

Sorry to dissapoint but my Ti has been brilliantly reliable. Apart from servicing, of the two days off the road 1.75 of those days are due to Mango's not having a replacement CV boot (a couple of hours to fix, tops?) in stock when they'd booked the car in, so I had to go back twice - a week apart and I don't work nearby!

There are a couple of minor trim creaks now it's over 40k, most noticeable is around the glovebox on a cold morning but it goes when she gets warm.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

2008-15 New 159Ti experience: overwhelmingly positive. Reliable and fun over nearly 100k.
