New 156 Sportwagon owner in Jersey
Finally, I have bought my first Alfa, having graduated from a Ford Escort Xr3i cabrio (my wife said I looked like a chav in it). My 2001 2.0 TS Sportwagon spent the first few years of it's life as a BT car, clocking up a fair few miles before being exported to Guernsey in 2006, then onto Jersey in 2008, where it was owned by a local doctor until last year. It now has 87k miles on the clock, which isn't too bad I guess. I bought it knowing that the suspension needed attention (creaking especially in cold weather and thumping upper wishbones/drop links), but I hope there aren't too many other surprises waiting for me. Thanks to this forum I was able figure out why it sounded like a diesel at start up, plus other things to look out for like timely cam belt changes (mine was done for the second in November at 83,000 miles, so should be ok for a while, I hope).
In Jersey, we are a bit isolated, especially during the winter months with the strong seas and frequent fog, so if anyone knows of any members over here they could put me in contact with, I would really appreciate it!
