I first posted on the forum about 3 months ago when I was changing my Mini and looking for a 159 2.0 JTDm. I had concerns in buying and Alfa and was seeking guidance.
Well, I admit that I bottled and made a purchase with my head rather than my heart. I wanted an Alfa, but a VW dealer offered me a deal on a Golf Mk6 2.0 TDI 140 GT that really made me think. I signed...
Financially it was a good choice and it all seemed to make sense, but within the first week of ownership it didn't feel right and I looked longingly at every 159 that went by.
To cut a long story short, the Golf started getting a few problems and 3 months after making the purchase, I returned to the dealer somewhat disgruntled. I had made enquiries to Alfa dealers, but they couldn't offer me an acceptable p/x deal. However, the VW dealer offered to buy the car back at a great price and operation 159 commenced. The search for a 159 was on again.
So last week the Golf went back and I picked up my beautiful 159 2.0 JTDm Lusso in Alfa red.
How's this for fate? If I had bought the 159 I was looking at in November, it would have cost me £1000 more than the Golf. The one I just bought cost me £500 more than I got back for the Golf. Not only was that a bonus, I also got a later plate 159 with lower mileage. Sorted!
I no longer have to look at passing Alfas and I have nothing but pride when I look at my 159
