Quick introduction, my name is Paul, I'm 34 from North Shields in Tyne & Wear and just recently bought my first Alfa. After finally admitting that a 400bhp Nissan Skyline is not an everyday car I've just bought a little 147 1.6 Lusso. Have to say it's nice to be back in a more everyday car after two and a half years behind the wheel of a car constantly trying to kill me or get my license removed for several years....
This is the first Alfa I've owned and already I'm kinda seeing what Top Gear has been on about for so many years - it is just such a nice place to be
. Full leather which is so comfortable after so long in a race bucket seat lol.
Seems like that car has a few things to fix which aint too surprising given I only paid £1300 for a 2003 car so off to mooch the forums to see how easy or hard they are to fix. Current issues that I know of are:
Front wheel bearings - easy fix for my mechanic I guess
Sloppy gear shift - sure I read this was a cheap fix
Cam belt and variator needs doing - need to find a reliable local garage as my mechanic aint got the tools for this.
Need a pipe on the power steering - the one that goes from the rack to the bottom of the coil - guessing that will be a dealer only part?
Anyway guess that's enough from me for now, glad to be a part of this community - seems a nice friendly crowd and always keen to join up to owners clubs too. Such a wealth of knowledge and experience out there
