I've just picked up an '02 156 2.0TS Lusso manual in metallic green. A mate was looking to get rid, and I've always had a soft spot for an Alfa and thought it might be fun to scratch that itch.
Consequently I might not have been as thorough in assessing this car as I normally am, allowing the good looks, £1300 price, 45k on the odometer and great condition to blinker me to the fact that service history is sketchy.
He had owned it for the past 6 years and reckons the cam belt was done 2 years ago and that it was serviced 'by a mate annually' but there's no actual paper-based evidence. I'll change all the consumable stuff myself, but I guess I'd better get it in for a cam belt change and I suppose get the water pump and variator looked at too just to be on the safe side.
Cosmetically there's a towbar-sized hole in the bumper that need fixing too.
But it is gorgeous.
