I've recently become the owner of an Alfa 156 1.8TS Sportwagon. Never saw myself owning an Alfa but an offer was made to me to swap it for my Subaru Legacy, which drank far too much petrol. I went for it, and I love the car.
It has a few things wrong with it (already posted in the Tech forum), and all of them seem to be common things on this site.
Anyway, I've joined (A) in the hope of learning more about the car, and where to look when it goes wrong, and (B) to get spares, as it seems every other member on here is breaking one!
My Alfa is a 1.8 T-Spark, and has 85k on it. Normally you wouldn't touch a car over here with so many miles, but it's a UK car and was imported to Guernsey to live out it's golden years (or something
). Guernsey cars with such mileage on that have spent their entire lives at no more than 35mph (our speed limit) tend to normally be on their death bed!
I currently have a list of priorities for the car:
Front suspension knocking - suspect drop links
Rear windscreen wiper spring old and stretched - doesn't actually touch the screen when wiping
Drivers side inside door handle doesn't spring back - once resulted in door flying open when going round left hander
1 spotlight smashed
Badge has no colour whatsoever left
Most of which will be sorted via a well known auction site. Luckily, a 35mph speed limit also means that eB*y parts are normally sufficient, whereas at motorway speeds, they wouldn't be.
Anyway, it's not clean right now, so you'll have to make do with this moody dark shot.
