Never owned an alfa but that just changed

Well owned all sorts of cars, normally ones that aren't run of the mill or entirely mainstream. (got to say the two rx7 turbo ii's about the most fun and best value).

Now I've gone for an alfa 159 and a 2.4 diesel !!!!!!!!
A diesel was the shock for me and won't be 100% sure until I drive it around a while. Always had petrol except a horrible diesel company car 12 years ago.

The 159 may not be the true sporting pedigree that many here may look to but I was after a decent 4 door saloon so not many options I was happy with
Good site by the way guys - been lurking a month or so and you lot convinced me to look diesel rather than 2.2. Jts (well that and the fact there are loads of 2.4 diesels knocking around)

Look forward to finding out more as well as modifications in the future no doubt.

Well gave it a run today. Pretty good, feels great on the road with a bit of wind noise but not too bad.
Diesel will take a bit to get used to punching it from such low revs and swift changes. Very different to petrol and higher revving cars.

Diesel at idle does sound like a van / old land rover a bit even a bit lumpy. Is this normal ?
Heard and driven 3 x 159 and they all sounded quite loud and rattly like a diesel does I guess.

Storage is a bit rubbish. Yes on long journeys a bit more room in the door compartments and one bottle / drinks holder would be nice. Don't suppose anybody has seen any nice drinks holders - not putting any tat in there so unlikely I reckon

Other than that very nice to drive and very good pull from low revs for overtaking etc. Decent roar from engine but not quite as I thought.

I'm sure I'll be asking for advice soon on the main forums

Firstly Welcome. I only ever drove a 159 when my Mito was in for some work, like you i am not used to diesel and i am sure someone else on here will give you plenty of info. Loved the 159 the short time i had it and was surprised how much power it had. Hope you enjoy.
