Hello / Introduction / New Alfa Owner

Hello all

Thought I would intoduce myself to the forum as I have just purchased an Alfa 159 2.2 JTS Lusso.

It is a 2006 plate with around 28,000 miles on the clock which I thought was reasonable for the age of the car.

Was meant to pick it up on Monday but it failed its MOT when the dealer (Arnold Clark) went to put it through its MOT.

Arnold Clark are quite good in that if there is less than 6 months to go on an MOT they automatically put it through a new MOT (at their cost).

The fault was a broken spring in the suspension so not too serious and I took a two year warranty just in case anything serios does happen.

Looking foward to getting the car but not sure when that will be yet!! Once I do I will be waving to all Alfa owners.

Thanks for the welcome.

Unfortunately I am still waiting on my Alfa. It took around a week to find replacements springs for the suspension as it had to be shipped from Italy. Not sure I believe that. Anyway it was due to be delivered last night and prior to delivery the manager of the dealer had one final look over the car and documentation.

During his review he noted that the timing belt had never been changed on the car and given that it is four years old this had to be done despite the car only doing 28k. Means the car needs to go to an Alfa dealer for the work to be done and I won't get it until some time next week.

Bit annoyed I haven't got the car yet as paying road tax, insurance and finance on it but at the same time it is good that the dealer (Arnold Clark) is arranging for this work to be done and at no extra cost to me. I imagine that if I had to change the timing belt myself that it would cost a few hundred 's.

Anyway, hopefully all will be ok and I can get behind the wheel next week.
