Ok, not an original title but it's a start.
I have just bought a 2001 156 TSpark 1.8 Veloce in black. I was looking for a nice sensible hatchback to replace my Nissan Maxima QX 3.0SE auto but I can't do sensible these days. At least the fuel consumption should be better, although the road tax is more expensive.
I do have previous Alfa Romeo experience, having had a 1980 Giulietta 1.8 in the early 80s as a company car. This poor thing had been savagely abused by the previous driver (and was taken away from me for 6 weeks shortly after I took it on by the police for forensic examination, the previous owner being suspected of committing murder and transporting the body in the Alfa). Excellent to drive, except for an occasionally baulky gearchange and a tendency to snap into oversteer when pushed. Not too reliable though. I ended up asking the fleet manager if I could have the spare Austin Allegro instead. Well, we all make mistakes.....
Looking forward to a new Alfa experience.
