Well I am just waiting to take delivery of my S2 159Tbi TI, black on carbonio black. This is the latest part of my Alfa journey.
My first ever car was a metallic green 1983 Alfasud QO, which I had set up by a guy called Louis Lorenzini. See link The AUTOSPORT Bulletin Board > Louis Lorenzini
This was my first baby
and was a fantastic drive, but ended up written off when I was driven off the road in Cheetham Hill. Front cross member up and back 2" (ouch!)
Moved to London and had some fairly ropey company cars, finally going to the dark side - BMW 325i and 330ci!
Sold the 330ci when our daughter arrived and bought a Honda CRV (for wife and baby) and my current car, a 54 plate Alfa Romeo 147 2.0TS Lusso, metallic grey with black leather. Although I have enjoyed the engine, fantastic tone and range, and what flexibility, I find the ride too unforgiving and it never put a smile on my face like the old Sud.
Well after the 159 test drive the smile is back
. I fell in love with the 159 when I first saw one at Florence Airport (couldn't get tired of looking at it) but I couldn't get over the dull drive when I had a 2.2 SW as a courtesy car. The 1750Tbi engine and the weight loss are a dream come true.
This might also be the last Alfa not to look like a jelly mould for a bit, so I intend to enjoy her and show her off, even if only to ask the question of the German driving masses!
Wouldn't be seen dead in anything else (apart from a maserati quattroporte).
