Just got it

Hi one and all
Just picked up the new (to me) beast. First Alfa I've ever owned and after reading some of the threads in here it looks as though I've let myself in for an interesting time.
It's a 159 Sportwagon but only the little 'un a 1.9 JTDm Lusso. Got it from Chris Vuvuzela at Nottingham and have just driven it the 50 odd miles home - deep joy.
The 159's may suffer (according to some of the posts) worn tyres on the front, leaking front doors, duff Blue and Me software, leaking power steering fluid but it must be the bonniest car in the whole known universe.
Mine's white with red leather and a smile on it's face (and mine for that matter).
No. 3 son thinks I'm mad getting an Alfa as his mate's blew an engine loads of times????, No. 1 son thinks any car not provided by an employer can't be worth having and No. 2 son says that everyone must own an Alfa before they die.
He had an AlfaSud Cloverleaf about 20 odd years ago. Italian racing red on the top half and good old British rust the bottom half but it gave him immense pleasure.
I had a Ducati in the 90's for a couple of years so I guess I've got some experience of Italian mechanics.
Now I need to spend the next couple of years trying to understand how all the gadgets and I suspect I'll be on and off here at regular intervals. It's a busy forum and there looks to be loads of folk that know a good bit about Alfa's though

HI and welcome to AO and the 159!

one trick i found by accident is at night press the lower rocker switch at the end of the upper left stalk ( the auto lights stalk) down and the dash lights go into night mode illuminating speed, radio and Climate only, no revs or fuel, turbo or water temp. my wifethought the fuse had blown when I did it first time!

159 Sportwagon

Hi Y'all
Thanks for all the welcomes and thanks for the tip about the dash lights.

As it was my first day with such a luvverly bit of tackle I thought to myself, "What's the most interesting and enjoyable thing I can do with it?" So I started to read the owners manual. Saddo!!!!

Haven't got far and I'm finding it harder to understand than Stephen Hawking's " A Brief History of Time"

Young chap at the garage connected my telephone for me and this weekend I'm hoping to tune the radio.

In the spare wheel well there is a little red rod with a thread on it. About 3 or 4 inches long. any ideas?
