I have owned a Alfa since 1994 when I purchased my 164 3.0 V6 Lusso, so I thought it's about time I joined the forum. My 164 was a 1988 version, and a year later my wife brought one, this was also a 3.0 V6. The 164 was a great car for touring holidays, we would travel to Italy most years when the kids were younger, camping mostly, but on sites that had the tents or caravans already there. It never let us down and with five up purred along at 90mph no problem. Of course that is not possible now with all the speed cameras on the French motorways. In 2000 we sold the 164's and I brought a 166 3.0 V6 24v Sportronic, 12 months old with 6000 miles on the clock. This also used to be taken home to Italy at least once a year, I still have that car but unfortunately about 18 months ago I had the cambelt break on me, three weeks before it's service.
It has sat in my garage since then, but now I have decided to use it as a donor car, and maybe sell on the parts I don't need, because about a month after that loss, last year I found a 166 3.0 V6 Lusso Sportronic and it was a facelifted version. It is great, of course it goes without saying that I had the cambelt changed straight away. I have found a good company in Royston, they are the Alfa Workshop, they really know Alfa's.
Anyway that's all about me at the moment, I have been using the forum to find out how to remove bits and pieces on my old car, it is has also been a very useful exercise for knowing how the access various bits on my other car if I need to.
