Have I done the right thing ?

Hello to all ,

I spent the whole of yesterday ( my birthday ) trying to get an Alfa Brera out of my mind . I went to Audi and was shown a line of S Line A4 TDi's , not one of which looked any different to the next but had snazzy xmas tree lights to jazz them up a bit. I then moved on to BMW and found the same story, however they did do an M Sport spec but I couldn't tell the difference and the interiors of the whole range were truly awful. I went to Seat, VW , Ford and it got worse, Lexus was better but I just couldn't bring myself to spend my hard loaned cash on any of these non - descript vehicles.
All of this time there was a devil in my head telling me that I really wanted the Brera that I had seen on the previous day but that I had dismissed. Nothing was right about it , I have 3 kids that couldn't fit in it, I'm 6 ' 4 and not made for it, I'd even found some bad reviews about it to make sure it went away.

But it didn't go away and some 2 hours later the words " can I test drive the Brera ?" blurted out. The kids were smiling and even the missus was suggesting that we keep our old Audi to run the family about. What on earth was going on ? We took the car out, 2 kids squashed in the back but giggling, me cricking my neck a bit but pretending I wasn't and the missus looking terrified. The straight line power was good but it rolled quite a bit on the bends I thought. We then , or so I thought, ran out of fuel but it was just me being stupid and not pressing in the clutch after a stall. But we only drove it 10 miles or so and in that time we had numerous turns of heads and finger pointing. Me being a shy bloke at heart wasn't sure whether I liked that or not. It was 2000 above my budget and all the notoriety of unreliability was also bothering me. Everything was telling me to say I'll leave it but I couldn't.

I managed to strike a deal that included 12 months AA warranty and I pick it up next week.

It is an Alfa Brera 2.4 JTDM SV in a really striking bright blue colour. 29000 miles full history on a 57 plate. 12500.

I hope I don't regret it :-)

Thanks to all so far you have made me feel a lot better - pick up delayed until Friday due to late availability of a new wing mirror upright casing - I'll post pictures up when I get it and learn how to do it.
