Hello, this is my first time so be gentle......

Just joined the forum and am on the verge of buying my first GTV after umming and arring between a GTV, Fiat Coupeand Mitsubishi FTO. It was actually a garage selling a Fiat that warned me off them and onto the GTV.

I've admired the passion in the designand the interiors for some years now and im of an age where insurance wont matter, in fact the quote was lower than my Laguna diesel.

Anyway thats enough from me, hope to be a "proper" member soon,

Hiya, welcome to AO. The v6 isn't while bad to run besides the fuel consumption but it will only be marginally worse that those other two animals

There are a few ex-fiat coupe owners on here so you should be able to get a nice balanced view from them. From what I have read they're a great car

A garage said to me today that basically if a GTV has a good xservice history and evidence of cam belt and water pump change then there is a pretty good chance you will be ok, is this really true? I'm guessing there are a lot of other things to check out. Yes there are, just read the buyers guide but nothing too major.

Hi Simon, a warm welcome from the Lincs Mob !!!

We are quite an active little group here so it would be very nice to see you in the Lincs Lounge and at some of our Meets soon.

Our next Meet is an Evening one, on the 26th August, and it is in the Horncastle area from 19.00 onwards that Thursday night.

You might want to add your details on to the “ Names, Locations and Cars “ Thread too, I generally don’t do this unless people “ask “ in there, don’t wish to give away any secrets !

Follow the Links to see what is going on and join in, I can pretty much say that you won't regret it. Apart from myself everyone else in the Lincs Section are very nice people.........

Our next Meet in three weeks time…

We also have a very special all day Meet on Saturday on the 11th Sept.

From the Lincs Lounge also follow Links and see what we have been up to last year, some cracking Meets and some great pictures.

Don't forget to look at the " Stickies " right on top of the Lincs Lounge page.

Numpty garage then.

To be honest, choosing between the GTV and Coupe, I would always advise a buyer to simply go with the car they prefer.
Both cars can be terrible if you buy a lemon - but both should be absolutely fine if you do your research properly, buy a good example, and take good care of it.

Coupe has much more rear seat room (and boot space I think) so that might be a decider if it matters to you. Aside from that, they're so close in almost every way, it's got to come down to which you prefer the looks of.
