New to Alfa, 156 2.4 JTD 10v just bought

Hello all,

Thought I would introduce myself as I have just bought a 156 as per the title. Have liked Alfas from afar for a while, my brother has had his GT for a year (after a near purchase of a Leon 2.0 Tdi) and I suggested he have a look. So he got one.

Anyway after my Leon reached the end of its company car life I opted out. Now my history of cars involves A LOT of performance VW's, mainly Golf Mk1's, Mk2's and Corrados and I love them all. I still have my first Golf Gti, a Mk2 I bought 9 years ago and have completed a G60 supercharged conversion this year giving it 200 bhp ish which is rapid. Also got a Mk1 Cab that is brilliant in the summer and seeing it was involved in my wedding and following Honeymoon another car that will stick with us for a while.

OK so you are all wondering why if I love Veedubs I am here? Well two things really, I love cars full stop and love the style, rarity and general coolness of Alfas. Plus I had been running around in a 1.8T Passat, great for towing and work horse jobs, pants on fuel and pretty dull to drive. So I needed a diesel and Veedubs hold onto their values insanely, are mostly dull for the cash I had and suffer most problems Alfas do. So I bought a 2003 156 2.4 JTD Veloce with 123k on the clock for 2150 in black with black leather. Not by all means the perfect car, with a few small marks on the body and the usual front suspension noises.

3 days in I love it, plus it is something new to learn and work on. I can take a Mk2 Golf engine out in about 2 hours blind folded, yet the JTD will be a new challange. Hoping of course I won't have to remove the engine!! One thing I have found though is that being 6ft 2" I am finding the seat quite lacking in support.

So I hope to take in some of the local meetings and try something different, I feel this could be start of a new love affair whilst retaining my original Veedub roots (I really want a Split Screen T2 but that is just dreaming!)
