Potential Alfa Owner

Hi folks

Have been pottering about in a Golf for a bit now and am looking to get something a bit newer, I've always been a great admirer of the 156 and was just wondering if there was a reason why the facelift 156's are so ridiculously cheap at the moment? I'm eyeing up something like a 2.0 JTS Veloce or quicker.

I generally do most work that needs doing on my own cars (have had a string from from boring to track) but recently have less and less times to do it. I love the look of them but if they're a bit of a reliability nightmare, sadly I'm not sure they're for me. I've been looking at Audi's and VW's but my heart keeps coming back to the Alfa's.

Basically I'm looking for something fun (over 160bhp) and would LOVE an Alfa.

I've been browsing the forum and have found the buyers guide but is there any reassurance you folks can give? Am looking around the 3 4-5k mark if that helps.

Hey mate, get ready to be uncontrollably addicted
Im not too sure on the pricing but as long as it's hpi clear and has FSH on time along with cambelts i can't see there being too much of a problem.. Oh and the facelift is very cool

Good evening and welcome. I'm a bit of a newbie myself. Well actually a lot of a newbie. The Milaneses have been attempting to seduce me for a while. I've been through the foreplay and so far so good, although there have been a few sleepless nights.....have I done the right thing; will it still respect me in the morning or look at me with contempt and dump it's coolant all over the drive, or worse still, all over lane 3 of the M60 - at 5.20 in the morning. Even worse than that, what if it hates me?

I haven't even got to the stage of losing my virginity.....that will come on Friday afternoon when I pick her up; hang on, did I just refer to a car as "her"?

It's worse than I thought. Quick, get a Doctor, or better still, a Nurse.

Wibble, wibble.
