I've been having a trawl around the website (have to say - there's a lot more info on here than on many enthusiast sites, so well done on that front).
Anyway, after a few years doing the whole VW thing (from '64 Splitscreen (mine) to a '94 Corrado (my wife's) and most things in between), it's time for a change.
Clarkson is always saying how everyone who has an interest in cars should have owned at least one Alfa, so it's our turn.
The car will be the other half's (if I can't get a surfboard in it, then it's no real use to me) but you can bet I'll be the one cleaning and servicing it!
So the hunt is now on for a 147.
After considering all the sensible options, practicality has been chucked out of the window and the main criteria (as dictated by my better half) is a leather (preferably the sports variety with the contrasting stitching) interior, black or red exterior and...........er...... that's about it really.
I'll happily take any pointers that anyone cares to share, but from what I can gather, as long as it's been well serviced and looked after, it's no more a risky purchase than any other secondhand car.
FSH is a must for me - and I'm going to risk a petrol lump over a diesel due to the fact that it seems 40k petrols can be got for the same as 100k oil burners - and 100k cars are 100k cars - with the resulting wear on everything else.
With a budget of £3k ish, there seems to be a fair bit of choice, which is pretty cool and I'm looking forward to the new purchase .....
