Hello from Cheshire - Alfa GT
Just bought my first Alfa. I've driven a wide range of cars over the years, most recently an A4 and a 320d Coupe. At my brother's suggestion (ex-owner of 5 Alfas - why has he got a Saab now...?) I took a test drive in a GT and loved it. The salesman (a true Alfisto) told me early in the drive that the car was 'old fashioned' to drive and I think he meant the driving experience isn't sanitised in the way that German cars with all their electronic aids are, in other words you always feel what the car is doing, what's going on. He was right. It was a good long test drive, twelve miles or so, and I haven't enjoyed any car quite so much for years. I paid a deposit (on a different car! - but same spec) immediately and have had the car for a week or so. I love it, especially the looks inside and out, the engine noise and performance, the amazingly comfortable red leather seats... The only disappointment is the ride, which is very crashy on the potholed country roads here in Cheshire, and not great on the M6 either. But as other people on these forums say - if ever you tire of the GT, just look at it!
