Hello 147 Selespeed Owners!

Happy holiday to you all!

Not quite so for me in respect to car troubles!

Im a 24year old and own my first 2003 Alfa 147 2.0TS Lusso Selespeed, although i have my troubles she is a lovely car!

A day before leaving from london to my folks place in Norfolk my 03 Alfa informed me of a selespeed failure! The ECU keeps cutting out when attempting to start, whcih seems to baffle me when it comes to a gearbox/selespeed problem, I would expect it to work! I then thought my worst fear was possible a broken cambelt. Luckily thats not the problem, and i found this all out during my two week 72K services i had planned for months!

I was going to cover the following:

Cambelt Service
Counter Balancer Belt Service
Oil Leak Service - Think its the Heat exchanger
Full front suspension overhaul - Very Squeaky!

Anyway, i have successfully done my servicing of front suspensions. And tomorrow looking at the why she broke down in the first place! (oh thats after fitting the cam belt and counter balance belt also)

My poor alfa hasnt had it well since i have had it. But i will revive her!

Itll be great to here some further Alfa stories as per what i have found on the forums!

My searches will carry on till i solve the problem!

Morning and welcome to AO

My son has a 147 Selespeed and has had similar problems recently. Fortunately this was caused by the severe cold weather affecting the sensors and not an actual fault. Apparently this is a common problem with 147s. See the threads on here about it.

Good luck
