mito on fire
I am writing this in some degree of shock. I have had my Mito for five months. I parked it up on monday night and by yesterday afternoon it was frozen solid. So I began thawing it out and started the engine to be almost immediately engulfed in pungent acrid smoke coming through the heater vents. There was also smoke coming from under the bonnet. I immediately turned the engine off, and eventually the smoke stopped. If I hadn't been there to switch the engine off, there would have been a full blown fire. I dread to think what would have happened if my grandchildren had been in the car.I phoned my dealer service, who immediately informed me that they had had one other mito with the same problem, and it was probably the alternator. The car has been taken to the dealer today. To say that I am amazed, shocked, disgusted, disappointed etc. is an understatement. This is the third time I have had to take the car back to the dealer. Has anyone else experienced or know of anyone who has had this problem with their mito? Even if Alfa repair the car, I now have no confidence in it, and due to the other problems (brakes and condensation) I am considering rejecting it. Can anyone advise where I stand legally?
