GT JTDm Stiff clutch sorted, for now.

With one day remaining on my Alfa warranty, I complained to them that my 06 GT 26k clutch had got stiffer since I brought it,They agreed, and got it sorted out for me under warranty.
The mechanic knew of the problem and said it was very common. Basically he said that the clutch fork sits in bushes in the bellhousing and they corrode/clog and partially seize up.
I am a competant mechanic and I was sceptical. They very kindly stripped it all out on the bench and showed me the problem, also the release bearing gets very dirty and binds on the shaft. The solution was a new clutch fork and modifided bushes. Wilst the gearbox was out I got them to open up the pull type clutch. I examined the clutch plates, they showed minimal wear, but I paid for a new one at that oppertunity and got it fitted for free.(normally £500-£700)The diagnoses as far as I was concerned was spot on.
Result, a normal car clutch not heavy or notchy at all.

I have the same problem. I bought a 56 plate GT JTDM from a garage. They gave me three months warranty for parts and labour. I have a week to run out of my warranty. I compained about the problem. I have not ook the car to the garage yet. WOuld I still be covered as it is a known technical fault??

Good luck with that. I was completely surprised mine got fixed under warranty.
It was the Proper Alfa 3 year warranty.I don't know about your after market one, though I am unfortuanately doubtful. It is an expensive job to get done,A full clutch replacement is in the region of £700 which is mostly labour.
