Newbie with a GT

Just popped in to say HI ...

I picked up a MY05 Metallic Silver over Red leather 1.9 JTD yesterday, immaculate 1 owner car that has covered just 17k, serviced annually by Alfa. It is by all accounts as good as a new car, very pleased.

I'm a long term car enthusiast but this is my first Alfa, recently I've had a couple of Porsche 911's (1 air cooled & 1 water) a Porsche 968, a 2.5 WRX Impreza and one of my all time favourites a Lancia Integrale EVOI, I've also had a couple of lesser Delta's, a couple of Fiat X/19's and all sorts of other stuff.

I'm really enjoying the GT, it's such a nice place to be and wow those seats are comfortable, not only is this my first Alfa It's also my first diesel and the 1.9 surprised me; smooth, refined and to my ears actually sounds quite good as it heads towards the red line, not what I expected from a 4 cylinder diesel at all!

I've got a few questions so I'll head over to the technical sections but in the mean time HI ..

Welcome to the family.
This thread says all you need to know about this forum and alfa ownership in general.

I have experienced the same approach people who came to my house for bits off my car and equally form "strangers" from the internet. Everyone is happy to help rather than in it for the money. Even the dealers and specialists want to help rather than get fat on our misfortune.

Can almost bring a (happy) tear to my eye. Alfa drivers really are nice people. Do we keep it a secret or tell the world to buy an Alfa?

Merry Christmas and happy new year all.

Thanks for the welcome all

Two weeks into ownership and my enthusiasm for the car continues to grow, it's just a shame we've had nothing but dreadful weather since collecting her.

I've spent many hours using the sites search function which has been extremely helpful; I now have a clear idea of what potential upgrades I might treat the car to..
