Well seeing as I am now the East Midlands rep I thought I'd let you lot know a bit more about me....enjoy
Your Forum name
Married to Mrs gtlewi
which cars do you drive and why?
I have a V6 GT and a 916 Spider. I have the V6 because IMO it’s the best engine in the prettiest car for sensible money. The Spider is for backroad blasts on sunny days (summer or winter) and taking to car shows.
Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
I think you’d describe it as being ‘mental’.
What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?
My Grandads Sud started my passion. I stole his keys aged 5 and started her up but couldn’t reach the pedals (how would that of looked on an insurance claim
)- so began the love affair with all things automotive and Alfa
Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
I am quite happy as a member of AO. Great people and a top site.
What do you like most about Alfas?
What do you like least about Alfas?
Wind noise on my GT.
What would be your dream cars?
There would have to be an Aston DBS, Lambo Murcialago, Shelby Mustang (don’t know why), 8C (for obvious reasons) and a Lancia Thesis (only kidding with that one)
What car would you least like to drive?
The bright green 1 litre polo I had as a courtesy car when my first GT was in the bodyshop. It was god awful!
For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO? The chat thread.
What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?
Cadaquez in Catalonia, my wife, anything by U2.
Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?
I managed to get into the wrong kart at a le mans style start on my Stag do. Caused a massive pile up on the first corner and left one driver well annoyed as I sped off in his kart. Whoops. Did get the fastest lap of anyone though.
What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Football, playing guitar and piano, wine and beer.
Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
I was on a BBC tv documentary when I was 4 or 5. It was about my dad who was one of the last rural bobbies in the north west. There is terrible bit where it shows me and my brother playing football in the police house garden, all you can see is me concentrating so hard to get the ball my tongue is sticking out the whole time. Mortifying now!
Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
The whole site is great, I think the East Midlands section is on the up and I must say I think a lot of the man called Bradders for his wit, dedication to his post count and his up beat attitude
If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?
Supercharge the GT and then pay off some of the mortgage (BORING!)
